Happy Holidays!

That’s right, Philly! The holidays are here and The Mike McCann Team is getting in the spirit! It’s the time of year for bundling up, sipping cocoa and delighting in the sights and sounds of the season. We hope you are as excited as we are to experience all of the amazing holiday attractions that Philadelphia has to offer. Have a look at some of our fun-filled holiday suggestions to see how we are going to spend the holidays – if you have ones we miss, let us know so we can make sure to check it out!

Shopping!

There is no shortage of places to get your holiday shopping done in Philadelphia. One unique way to find presents for those people who are impossible to shop for is checking out the variety of flea markets and pop up markets all over the city. Our personal favorites are the Franklin Flea Holiday Market and PHAIR at Franklin Square. Both events offer off-the-beaten-path shopping experiences and products that range from tasty treats to rare collectables to handmade crafts. If you need to shop for someone with bizarre, particular or unique tastes, you won’t want to miss these opportunities to seek out the perfect gift.

See the Lights!

A big part of all the holiday fun in Philly is taking time to admire the lights and decorations all over the city. We highly recommend stopping in at Macy’s in Center City to enjoy their phenomenal indoor light show. Experience this Philly tradition and get some shopping done while you’re at it! Next, take a trip to the Comcast Center and watch the Comcast Holiday Spectacular on their giant, LED display. Of course, you are going to want to take a trip through South Philly to discover the amazing, neighborhood light show on 13th Street (Tasker to Morris Streets).  We also suggest strolling through Rittenhouse Square to experience its surreal holiday transformation, including an enormous beautifully decorated Christmas tree! Top off your holiday light viewing at Franklin Square where they have a beautiful, family-friendly light show. Get out there and see the lights!

Concerts and Plays

Make sure you take advantage of at least one of Philly’s fabulous holiday concerts and shows this holiday season.  George Blanchine’s The Nutcracker at the Academy of Music is definitely at the top of our list.  Don’t miss the opportunity to be mesmerized by this amazing combination of artists!  The Philly Pops Christmas Spectacular is going to rock the city with classic holiday songs performed by over 300 musicians. The Kimmel Center is offering some free and family oriented shows this season so be sure to check out their concert calendar!

Slap on those Skates!

Philly will be home to not one, but two outdoor ice skating rinks this year! Winterfest at Penn’s Landing offers an opportunity for beginners and pros to take a spin around the ice in addition to shopping, food, drinks and even a cozy ski lodge. New addition to Philadelphia, Dilworth Park is hosting the Rothman Ice Rink this holiday season. That’s right! A giant ice rink, right in the heart of Center City! Enjoy these pop-up ice rinks while they last.

Christmas Village

The holiday front runner this year is definitely the Christmas Village in Love Park! We love the look of this traditional German Christmas market and the one-of-a-kind experience that it offers. We can’t get enough of the variety of vendors and all of the gifts, crafts, artwork and food that they have for sale. Exploring the village, sampling treats and sipping cocoa is our favorite way to spend an evening in Philadelphia this holiday season! Also, this is a great place to meet Santa Clause! We will be there with bells on, literally.

We hope you join us in our holiday merrymaking and take advantage of all the great events and attractions that the City of Brotherly Love has to offer. Let’s make this a holiday season to remember!
