Mirror and Mantel

Small Business Spotlight: Mirror and Mantel

We recently caught up with Katie Cooke, owner of Mirror and Mantel in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse neighborhood. She filled us in on her company’s personal mission, the services they offer and exactly why they do what they do! We were excited and inspired by Mirror and Mantel’s commitment to their customers and their willingness to go the extra mile in order to serve their community.

Katie was inspired to open Mirror and Mantel because she wanted to create a salon experience that was 100%committed to customer service. Katie states, “I wanted to create an environment that was both comfortable and casual for clients, where they could expect high-end results without any pretension attached to it.” She also wanted to create a business model that adequately compensated stylist and encouraged them to grow and improve in their careers. She strives to make sure that her staff always feels appreciated.

The Mirror and Mantel staff focuses exclusively on cutting and coloring. The entire staff is extremely skilled in both of these areas and, as Katie explains, they are “committed to providing clientele with creative stylists that are experts in their craft.” Her team also focuses on using natural and local products. Most importantly, they want their clients to feel right at home whenever they come in!

Katie and her staff really made an impression on us because of how passionate they are about the work that they do. She explained that “nothing beats the joy of coming to work with a group of people that you truly love every day” and that she is “extremely proud of the women that I work with and how far each of them has grown in their career since they have come to work here.” It is clear that the Mirror and Mantel staff is dedicated to constant improvement and exceeding customer expectations. For Katie, just being able to open and operate her business is and honor and a dream.

The Mirror and Mantel team is proud to be a part of the city’s small business community. They feel that small businesses “define the city” and that Philly’s grit, passion and tight-knit community allows for small business to succeed and the city to grow as a whole. They appreciate all of the support they have received and give back by working directly with women’s shelters and contributing to local charities. We love when local businesses represent this authentic Philadelphia spirit!

Right now, Katie and her crew plan on continuing their work and doing everything they can to perfect their business. They want to fully establish their presence in Philadelphia and to keep making their customers happy. We love the enthusiasm of this company and wish them nothing but success in the future!
