Dining Out at Petruce et al.

Dining Out!-Petruce et al.

Petruce et al. may be new to the Philadelphia restaurant scene but they are already turning quite a few heads with their authentic style, amazing food and  classy yet casual atmosphere. One trip to Petruce et al. and you will see why local critics just can’t praise them enough. Located at 11th and Walnut Streets, this restaurant is quickly establishing itself as a Philly favorite and we were very happy to speak with co-owner, Tim Kweeder about everything that makes them such a hip-and-happening spot!

The Style

“We offer modern American wood-fired Cuisine. Our restaurant was built around the hearth, wood-fired oven and wood-fired grill.”

The Food

“We have a talented and creative culinary crew, led by my business partners, Jonathan & Justin Petruce and sous chef, Palmer Marinelli. Though our menu changes quite a bit given that we work with what is in season, one of our staples is our carrot dish. The carrots are roasted, pickled and shaved raw and accompanied by baby kale, pistachio, furikake and bagna cauda. They have converted several meat-starving mongrels to appreciate a vegetable dish. We also rock a dry-aged strip loin Argentine style, prepared on the grill and served with chimichurri. It is a killer dish, as good as and better than a lot of steak houses and at a much better price.”

The Service

“We are fortunate to have a knowledgeable and personable front of the house team. Coming from a hotel background many moons ago, hospitality is important to me. Also, dining at the chef’s counter gives guests the opportunity to interact with our kitchen crew.”

Special Features

“Not only is the food excellent and well-received, but we have a strong focus on the beverage program as well. It is important to me that we hit on all calibers. I am very selective when it comes to craft beer and natural wine and we are fortunate to have a talented bar staff led by bar manager, Kevin Hess, who makes amazing cocktails. Our two top sellers are the Poncho’s Redemption and the Man Man-hattan. Poncho’s consists of our house-infused guajillo Reposado tequila, fresh lime, ginger and Ilegal Mezcal. It is a hipper alternative to the margarita as we roll into the summer. The Man Man-hattan is an ode to one of the more unique bands to come out of Philly in years, Man Man. It is our riff on a classic cocktail and our top seller. For those who don’t partake in alcohol, we do take tea service seriously thanks to training from our amigos at Melange Tea & Spice and are proud to brew coffee roasted by local company, Rival Bros.”

The owners of Petruce et al. are extremely proud of their success in Philadelphia and the work they put in to meet the challenges of managing a restaurant. They wanted to urge everyone to come out and experience the unique dining experience that they have passionately created. They are proud members of the Philadelphia community and are extremely excited to be involved with the thriving modern-progressive dining scene that has emerged in the city recently. This restaurant has a great deal of spirit and creativity behind it and we definitely recommend spending your next night out at Petruce et al.
