Celebrate the 306th birthday of one of America’s Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin, in historic Center City Philadelphia! Celebration! Benjamin Franklin, Founder will honor the life and accomplishments of one of America’s most well-known historical figures and renowned scientist, author, statesman, politician, musician, printer and….the list goes on! This exciting celebration brings together in Philadelphia the many walks of life that Ben Franklin has come to influence.
The event will be held on Friday, January 20 and will offer a free seminar open to the public called Franklin and Energy: Resources, Uses and Efficiencies. Also, join the parade to the ChristChurch burial ground, the site of Franklin’s grave, where many Franklin fans will march to music provided by the American Philosophical Society. You’ll have the opportunity to walk through two great Philadelphia neighborhoods that are rich with history and Federal-style architecture, Society Hill and OldCity. A lunch will also be held at the Downtown Club, where the Franklin Founder Award will be presented to Dr. Steven Chu, the US Secretary of Energy.
