An Orchestra, Zoo Festival, and Shake Shack Hit Philly!

Looking for something to do this week? Try one of these fun activities!

The Philadelphia Orchestra Presents The Music of John Williams: An 80th Birthday Celebration

Friday, July 20th, at 8:00 pm (doors open at 6:00 pm)

In case you’ve been living under a musical rock and don’t know who John Williams is, allow us to summarize.  He’s the winner of five Academy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, 21 Grammy Awards, and seven BAFTA Awards. But more importantly, he’s the beautiful and musically gifted mind behind the film scores to countless movies, including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jaws, and more.

Needless to say, to have the Philadelphia Orchestra present selections from his most famous hits is pretty out of this world.  Set to include Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter, the Theme from Schindler’s List, and the Olympic Fanfare, this show will have all ages listening and reminiscing.

Tickets range from $12.50-$49.50 and can be purchased at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts’ website.

The Philadelphia Zoo Summer Ale Festival

Saturday, July 21 from 6:30 pm to 10:00pm

What do you get when you combine local, craft beers, regional cuisine, all in the presence of exotic animals?  The answer is one of the most unique, diverse festivals to hit Philadelphia.

Taking place in University City, in our very own Zoo, the festival will be a fun time for any age, and is filled to the furry brim with tasty competition, interactive, spectator voting, and of course, live entertainment from both our fuzzy friends and local bands.

Please note that tickets will only be sold online, in advance and include a souvenir tasting mug, on-site parking, and shuttle service to and from 30th Street Station.

Shake Shack Has Arrived!

All weekend and week long, all day.

Craving some milkshake goodness?  Then your dairy-loving palate will be happy to hear that the New York institution, the beloved Shake Shack, has now expanded and moved to our very own backyard.  Compiled from the traditional thinking of what a milkshake palace should serve, interwoven with a modern day spin of other adult cravings (meaning that the menu offers dogs, burgers, and even the more adult drink of wine), Shake Shack is a lovely addition to the neighborhood.  Philly welcomes you eagerly with our discriminating palates!

Located in Rittenhouse Square at 2000 Sansom Street, the Shake Shack serves burgers, dogs, shakes, custards, and more.  Opened from 11am-11pm, it maintains a friendly but sophisticated vibe all day, while still being price conscientious.
