The Adventure Aquarium

Every single day of the year, from 10:00am- 5:00 pm.

The Adventure Aquarium on the Camden,NJ Waterfront is an exciting aquarium where children and their parents can get up close with aquatic life.  And it’s the only aquarium in the US to feature hippos as well as the one of only two to feature a hammerhead shark.  Just look at all the features the aquarium has to offer:

The West African River Experience
One of the most popular exhibits at the Adventure Aquarium, the West African River Experience, shows off the famous hippopotamuses, Button and Genny.  This exhibit lets you experience the Nile River Valley, with more than 20 species of African birds in a free-flight aviary, thousands of species of fish, and Button and Genny.

Touch a Shark Exhibit and other Hands-On Exhibits
The Touch a Shark Exhibit is presented by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and is just one of the many hands-on exhibits where you can touch the marine life.  Located on the second floor of the Adventure Aquarium, you can touch Indo-Pacific Brown-banded and White-Spotted Bamboo Sharks by simply sticking your hand in the water.

Behind the Scenes
The Adventure Aquarium also features “behind the scenes” exhibits and tours, like, “The Feeding Fury Tour.”  The tour is interactive, allowing you to see up close how the sharks are cared for at the Aquarium. It also features an opportunity to feed the sharks. As part of this interactive tour, you will be taken into the behind-the-scenes food preparation area, harnessed in, and be inches away from the sharks at the Adventure Aquarium.

The Feeding Fury tour costs $150 and includes the price of aquarium admission and parking, as well as a souvenir t-shirt, photo and shark tooth.

But please note, that this tour is only open to those ages fourteen and older. It is held every Saturday, with only one session per day. Each session is open to only two guests. And needless to say, is a very unique and once in a lifetime opportunity.

Tickets
Overall, the busiest days at the Adventure Aquarium are on holidays and during the summer. A helpful tip to avoiding lines at Adventure Aquarium is to purchase tickets online and print them out at home.  Adult tickets are for those ages thirteen and up, and cost $23.95. Children’s tickets are for those between the ages of 2 and cost $17.95.
