I don’t think there was a better person to help us find our first home! Melanie was absolutely wonderful from start to finish, which is especially noteworthy considering we were buying a home in Philadelphia while we were still living in Texas. My husband and I came up one weekend to look at houses with two different realtors, both of whom were very well-reviewed on Zillow. Melanie was hands-down the best of the two: she was so down-to-earth and honest, and felt more like a very knowledgeable friend than a realtor. I was looking for a realtor who would be our advocate but wouldn’t try push us into a home that wasn’t right, and that’s exactly what Melanie did. She truly wants her clients to be happy, and that shows through everything she does. At one house that needed a lot of work, she told us “This isn’t the house for you. I don’t want you to put an offer on this.” At another house that was recently remodeled but didn’t have a bathtub, she said “If you want a family, this house isn’t right for you.” She always gave her honest opinion when we asked and always had our best interests in mind. We looked at a total of 15 houses that weekend, and we fell in love with the last house we looked at. It was listed low because the seller wanted to sell it fast. When we told Melanie that we were thinking of offering $20,000 above asking, she was so supportive and encouraging. She didn’t care that it would hurt her list price to selling price ratio–all she cared about was that we loved the house and we were comfortable with our offer. There were six other bids on the house, but we won out because we went with our gut and offered what we thought the house was truly worth. I’m so glad that Melanie didn’t discourage us from offering a higher amount. After our bid was accepted, Melanie connected us to an amazing company that financed our loan–they were really responsive and were always available to answer questions. We cannot be more thankful of Melanie and all she did for us! If we sell this home, we will 100% use Melanie again.
