Due to popular demand the “Past to Present- Tattoo Paintings” Exhibit at the Seaport Museum (located on 211 South Christopher Columbus Boulevard) has been extended through June 3rd! Being held in the Community Gallery, the “Past to Present – Tattoo Paintings frames the contemporary tattoo flash art movement in its traditional context. The exhibit features flash art (“flash” is the trade name for individual tattoo designs) by a number of recognized contemporary tattooists.”
Also for the true tattoo enthusiast, be sure to check out “Battleship Olympia Tattoo Convention,” the 2nd Philadelphia Tattoo Convention of the year, an exhibit showcasing and exploring the history and evolution of “Ink,” with tattooers from all over the land. See these artists apply vintage acetate stencils– “truly period-correct, old school tattoos applied in the same assembly-line manner as they would have been in the golden age of American Tattooing.” And see how “Ink” was done back in the day all on Olympia, the world’s oldest still floating metal warship.
Cost of the event: $20 per day, $40 for the weekend, children under 12 are free. Tickets are only sold at the show.
