A Neighborhood That Lives up to its Name: Old City

Imagine a neighborhood considered to be one of the most historically important regions in the country during the day, and one of the most popular places to enjoy at night.  Envision a realm where local commerce meets art, fashion, and crafts; a place where both tourists and locals flock.

We call her Old City.  Bounded by Vine Street on the north, Old City runs south to Walnut, with Lombard and 7th Streets forming the Western edge and with the Delaware River as the eastern end.  It is home to Independence Hall (where the Constitution was created), the Betsy Ross House (seamstress of our great flag), and a plethora more of historical tid bits.

If one finds him or herself with a free evening, this part of town also provides an endless arena for possibilities.  We recommend Market and 3rd Streets to Chestnut and Front Streets.  Between the shops and boutiques, galleries, theaters, and bars and restaurants, you won’t be able to step 10 feet without hitting another option for fun!

Yet, this sacred sector of the city is known for more than just a lesson on past eras and good night life; it’s also known for its beauty and the luxury homes.  That’s because luxury homes located here are also likely to be a historic ones as well!  Additionally, the sense of community around these parts is diverse, yet cordial.  The vibrant life and effervescent energy will never fall short in this neighborhood.

Part of the School District of Philadelphia, Old City is a wonderful place to raise children and their educational learning. The region is well endowed with institutions of higher learning.  Elementary age school kids attend General George A McCall School; older students go to Furness High School.  The library system of Philadelphia runs the Independence Branch on South 7th St.
