Center City – Home to Roots This Weekend

A trip to the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing is always a treat, but if you live in Center City and happen to have the weekend free, the 2012 Roots Picnic hip-hop festival is the place to be! Coming up on Saturday, June 2nd and Sunday, June 3rd, this event is sponsored by Philly’s own band, The Roots, and will feature performances by music legends De La Soul, Kid Cudi and Rakim, along with well known locals like Chill Moody and OCD.  The day is sure to be eye-opening and ear-popping and create a great mix. Open air and good music near your Center City home can and will be good for your soul!

Enjoy yourself while watching and dancing along at this well-attended, annual community event held right along the river.  Known by locals as the “best summer festival in town” and called “one of the 20 essential Festivals of Summer 2012” by Pitchfork, you will be surprised at the variety and energy shared throughout the two days, comprised of more than fifteen performances. Parking will be difficult, so to get to the Festival Pier easily for the Roots Picnic, take advantage of one of Glaceau’s vitaminwater xxxpress buses, found at 30th Street Station, in the North Terminal.  Tickets are available for either one day ($50) or two days ($80) of fun by clicking here.
