Memorial Day Events for Families Who Live in Philadelphia

Memorial Day is the perfect time to find activities that blend patriotism with family fun if you live in Philadelphia. Many local events and venues give you opportunity to plan a day to remember for adults and children alike. From the Liberty Carousel in Franklin Square to the Betsy Ross House, Philadelphia is the place to be if you want to experience history! The following low cost or free education events will help you embrace the patriotic spirit near your Philadelphia home and create lasting memories.

The Liberty 360 Show in the PECO Theater, located at 600 Chestnut Street will teach you all you ever wanted to know regarding freedom in America, as told by Benjamin Franklin. This 3-D adventure is less than thirty minutes in length and shows are every twenty minutes between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on May 26th through May 28th. Adults are $6, but senior, military, students and children are only $5.

If you enjoy Benjamin Franklin, then a tour of the Barnes Foundation during their Opening Weekend Celebration would be a great place to go to further your learning of our founding fathers. Located at 2025 Ben Franklin Parkway, you can enjoy free admission around the clock (for 56 consecutive hours) this weekend, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 26th and concluding on Monday, May 28th at 5:45 p.m. Click here to find out more and view the schedule of events.
