Selling Your Home Over the Holidays

The Holiday season is quickly approaching and all around Center City, Philadelphia, many of us are looking forward to the festive season. So what does this mean for homeowners?

Well, if your home is currently on the market, or if you’re thinking about listing, your timing is perfect. Now is the time of year where the most serious buyers are out, looking for their perfect abode and making offers.  During this time, buyers take days off, have more free time, and are in great spirits, all affecting their buying.  While the market might become a bit slower throughout this time, it’s still a great time to put your home up for sales, especially since January and February welcome early spring market.

That said, if you decide to keep your home on the market over the holidays, there are a few things to keep in mind. Keep decorations to a minimum. Be especially careful not to cover up selling points such as mantels or stained glass windows. Use pine cones, or evergreen garlands instead of large artificial displays and banners. Allow viewers to envision their own furniture and holiday decorations in the space. If you would like to add holiday appeal to viewers, leave some cookies on the counter or some hot cider on the stove. Think of what you would expect in viewing a home at this time of year, and give your home the best shot to be sold.
